Guidelines

Once you have read the guidelines below, you should be ready to submit your work!

Go ahead and click on the button to be directed to the submissions page:

3 poems max per submission.
30 lines max per poem.
Must be original, unpublished.
Combine all poems into one document and send as one file.
Can be any genre of poetry.

We accept traditionally made art (drawings, paintings, mixed media, etc. )
We accept digital art.
We accept photography.
Artwork must be your own original work and not infringing on copyright laws (no fan art, licensed material, etc.)
We do not accept AI generated art.
Art can be submitted as a joint piece with one poem or one piece of literary fiction.
Submit art in a jpeg, pdf, or png file. It must be 300 dpi with CMYK colour profile (for printing).

1- Original work

Here at Gently Mad, we frown on plagiarism. Please do not submit work that is not your own.
You are allowed to submit work that has been submitted for a class but not any work that has already been previously published or generated by AI.

2- Grammar

Make sure to review your work before submitting so our editing process can be done smoothly, taking into account the quality of your writing rather than just grammatical mistakes.

3- Propriety

We do not accept any submissions that contain: explicit images, pornography, smut, sexual violence, or racism. We will reject any work that we deem inappropriate.

4- Formatting

Make sure to format your work in a docx or pdf document. Add your name, email, and any contact information you feel comfortable sharing.
We do not adhere to any specific formatting standard when taking in submissions as long as it is a typed document in the formats listed above.
We do accept simultaneous submissions. We do accept submissions that contain a mixture of media (poetry and art, or poetry and short story).

Accepted submissions will not receive monetary compensation at this time.
The Gently Mad Magazine retains publishing rights for 6 months after the publication date, meaning the work cannot be published elsewhere. After 6 months is up, it can be published anywhere as long as acknowledgments are given to our magazine.
